The dogs of the Canine (K-9) Units in Washington County, Nebraska are immeasurably valuable additions to law enforcement.  These "Four Legged Deputies" perform jobs their human law enforcement partners cannot do as well as a dog can.

In addition to tracking suspects, they are trained to sniff out methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, cocaine and other drugs.  They also assist in apprehensions and are capable of performing building and area searches, looking for evidence and locating explosives.

Canine teams are required to train regularly and renew their certification annually.

K-9 Fund Mission:

The Washington County K-9 Fund is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support the need of canine (K-9) units of the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Nebraska.  The K-9 fund is TOTALLY dependent on donor support.
